While fall doesn't officially arrive until September 22, we have finally turned a corner in hot Northern California and are
enjoying cooler days and nights.
This change in temperature prompted apple picking, making an apple crisp, and passing an afternoon making leaf rubbings and leaf
animals with my grandchild and counting apples and acorns.
How do you celebrate the changing season? Simple celebrations and appreciating the changing season can bring joy into homeschool

This fall is also a great time to learn more about our American history, and Playful Pioneers Volume 2 has an excellent American
history book list.
You can focus in on just the landing of the pilgrims and writing of the Mayflower Compact with our Playful Pioneers New England
Guide, or grab the whole bundle.
In the New England guide we learn about the first Thanksgiving celebration, look at American art from N.C. Wyeth, and poetry such
as Thanksgiving Day by Lydia Maria Child and the Song of Hiawatha by Longfellow. It includes weekly crafts, recipes, and nature
study prompts for an engaging history resource.
