The SIBO Discovery Journey: Day 2
Hi the-healthy-gut,
Did you know that up to 20% of Americans and 1 in 5 Australians have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? It is the most common
digestive complaint in the world and research shows that on average, 60% of all people with IBS actually have SIBO.
Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is a condition where regular bacteria that normally live within us end up living in
the small intestine in higher numbers than normal, causing havoc.
Why is this problematic? The small intestine is not supposed to have large numbers of bacteria living in it. When the bacteria
overgrow in the small intestine, the normal balance is disrupted and many people can experience painful symptoms.

SIBO is real and I know personally how hard it is to have this kind of condition. It’s affecting millions of people around the
world, but it is still a relatively unknown condition and often goes undiagnosed for years.
