At Sitka Salmon Shares, we’re known for our wild-caught, frozen fish that tastes like it’s fresh from the ocean. On occasion, we take some of that amazing fish and smoke it. Although it’s not what we typically offer, we are just as excited about it as we are the rest of our catch, and we’re eager for you to give it a taste.
Our smoked salmon and sablefish (black cod) are smoked at Bearcat’s Fish House, a seafood market in Green Bay, Wisconsin, known for their expertly smoked fish. Bearcat’s smokes our fish with maple wood and coats it with a salty brine. They use modern smokers to create a milder smoky taste. We love working with them to promote our shared values of superb quality and the importance of sharing Alaskan seafood with the Midwest.
You can enjoy smoked fish in bisques, pastas, quiches, pizza, canapés, and more. Toss it in a salad, enjoy it as an appetizer with cream cheese and crackers, or just eat it straight out of the package. We are currently offering a mixed box of sablefish and smoked sablefish if you’d like to give it a try.
