Three Lakers Become World Champions!
Peterborough Lakers’s Matt Gilray, Jake Withers and Zach Currier helped Team Canada defend their title by winning the men’s World
Lacrosse Box Championship and a gold medal, defeating Team USA 13-7 at the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, N.Y.
Peterborough’s Erica Evans played for Team Canada in the first-ever Women’s World Lacrosse Box Championship and her team’s
undefeated run ended in the gold medal game. They lost 10-7 after USA had a five-goal run in a comeback after being down 7-5
almost halfway through the fourth quarter.
Evans was also named to the inaugural Women's All-World Team.
Community Care Needs You!
Community Care Peterborough has released a new promotional video of its services to attract volunteers and financial support to
continue serving seniors.
The video, ‘Life Changes, Community Doesn't,’ tells the story of a former volunteer named Sophie who uses the same services she
once helped provide. The video highlights Community Care Peterborough’s programs, such as Meals on Wheels, transportation,
wellness programs and support for those returning home from the hospital.
Golf Paying Off!
As a result of the fundraising efforts of the inaugural Peterborough Mayoral Invitational Charity Golf Tournament, $5,000 each was
donated to Community Living Trent Highlands and Kawartha Food Share.
The event took place on Sept. 9 at Kawartha Golf Club and was originally announced by Mayor Jeff Leal on Aug. 13.
Helping Everyone Heal While Having Fun!
Right to Heal is hosting a free fundraising event ‘Friendsgiving’ held at 100 Acre Brewing Co. from 2 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 20th.
The event is in collaboration with the brewery and Dream Team concerts. Live music, vendors, food trucks, beer and a corn hole
tournament are the attractions slated for the fundraiser.
This week on Hometown PTBO sponsored by Pyle Wealth Advisory, David Tuan Bui talks with Leslie Yee, Canadian Council of the Blind
Peterborough Chapter past chair (and guide dog Akira) about her service to the disabled/blind community, her condition and the
