Order 2024's catch
Captain Steve and his crew have returned to land after another successful Sockeye salmon season in Bristol Bay, AK. The F/V Ava
Jane has been safely docked, and the crew is now adjusting to life on solid ground. As they trade their sea legs for a chance to
relax and recover, the team reflects on a productive season, filled with hard work and rewarding catches. For Captain Steve,
relaxation means diving right back into his daily routine, managing his various business ventures in his hometown of Bloomsburg,
PA and spending his weekends enjoying the last weeks of summer, outside, with his family.
How did the 2024 Sockeye season go?
In the 2024 season, over 30 million Sockeye salmon were harvested, each averaging 4.2 pounds. This year’s harvest was fairly
typical when compared to the 20-year average, though it appears modest next to the 40 million Sockeye harvested in 2023 and the
impressive 60 million from 2022.
