$FOOTBALL
Cincinatti Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The Bengals entered Saturday afternoon on a hot streak with Jake Browning (-4%, 1.45) and in control of their playoff contention. The steelers entered the game, needing a miracle to make the playoffs…and on a losing streak. The game seemed to be an easy pick. However, anything happens in the NFL.

Cincinnati's offense was again led by Browning, completing 28 of 42 passes for 335 yards. As usual, it was Tee Higgins (18%, 3.30) for 140 yards, and Tyler Boyd (4%, 0.58) also contributed with the absence of Ja’marr Chase (8.32). However, any offensive production was limited for Cincinnati as Browning turned the ball over an eye-popping 3 times to the Steelers.

Over their winning streak (-9%, 11.75) had contributed mightily. However, due in large part to Brownings interceptions Mixon only ran the ball 11 times for 43 rushing yards.

Mason Rudolph (22%, 1.28) got the start for Pittsburgh. Rudolph completed 17 of 27 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns, a remarkable feat when considering the production they had been getting from Mitch Trubisky. Running back Najee Harris (8%, 3.72) added a ground threat, rushing for 78 yards and scoring a touchdown, which was also above average from what we have seen throughout this season.

The star of the Steelers' offense was wide receiver George Pickens (65%, 6.49), who exploded for 195 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pickens'
big-play ability, including an 86-yard reception, was a sight to see considering the ineptitude and lack of effort throughout the losing streak. The involvement of Pickens felt intentional, perhaps to maintain player
happiness…or generate an off-season trade?

The Steelers ended up routing the Bengals, and are mathematically alive in the post-season race but are going to need a lot of help to make that happen. In the end, it is obvious we will likely see a new face for the Steelers next season, perhaps Kirk Cousins?
Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Chargers

The Bills entered this game controlling their own playoff fate, thanks by and large to the Bengals (in the opposite direction of 2019) loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Knowing full well, a win puts them in the playoffs they found ways to make it difficult.

The Chargers and Easton Stick (8%, 1.20) did their best to play spoiler Saturday night. Thanks in large part to the Chargers defense, Stick and Austin Ekeler (-3%, 4.87) helped the Chargers control the clock most of the night. Without Keenan Allen (4.63) the Chargers offense ran the ball heavily with Stick and Ekeler. In total Ekeler and Stick rushed 25 times for 90 yards a touchdown and then a night full of field goals.

As for the Bills, Josh Allen (3%, 34.04) had a night to forget through the air, completing 15 out of 21 passes 237 yards a score and an interception. As always, in these close games it seems, Gabriel Davis (50%, 2.72) found the end zone on a 57-yard score. Allen also contributed significantly on the ground, rushing for two touchdowns and adding another dimension to the Bills' offense. Running back James Cook (-16%, 5.27) carried the bulk of the rushing workload, gaining 70 yards on 20 attempts while fumbling at a critical moment in the 4th quarter. The defense held tough keeping the Bills down only 2 late in the game.

Khalil Shakir (10%, 2.82) and Stefon Diggs (-12%, 3.21) made valuable contributions, helping Allen move the chains and extend the drive to ultimately give the Bills the much needed win to sneak into the playoffs, as of today, as the #6 seed. They don’t have much room to falter down the stretch though!
New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos

The Patriots entered this game in a similar boat to the Steelers, but with absolutely no mathematical shot at the postseason. The Broncos entered this game with a lot to play for, while also needing luck, and could even be alive for a division title. However, based on how the game unfolded these teams didn’t play like their positions would indicate they would.

Bailey Zappe (11%, 1.60) got the start again for New England, Zappe completed 25 of 33 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns, without throwing any interceptions. The string of no turnovers for is impressive considering this was the kryptonite of Mac Jones (0.63). What’s even more impressive is this effort was led with his leading receivers of Demario Douglas (6%, 2.25), DeVante Parker (4%, 1.55), and Ezekiel Elliott (10%, 6.38) while having little to no help in the run game. Elliott, not only a
receiving threat but also a factor in the rushing game, contributed 27 yards on the ground.

Denver, led by Russell Wilson (11%, 10.76) completed 25 of 37 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns. While the 2 touchdowns were impressive it looked like Wilson was under duress most of the night. While no receiver was elite or stood out on the box score, Marvin Mims (2.54) led the team in yardage, Brandon Johnson and Lucas Krull (1.05) found the end zone for the Broncos. The Broncos' again split the carries fairly evenly between James McLaughlin (25%, 1.62) and Javonte Williams (-4%, 2.34). Williams got the score for the Broncos, but McLaughlin had more yards combining for under 60 yards.

In the end, the Broncos lost a much-needed game which would have bolstered their ability to win the division. While the Chiefs lost a critical game on Christmas, the Broncos are still alive for the division but are going to need some help from Denver and Los Angeles down the stretch if
they hope to win the division.
