2-1-1 Orange County Quarterly Newsletter Q3 - 2024 A AL 03 - 2024
Dear Friend,
It’s hard to believe that a year has already gone by since Orange County United Way’s acquisition of 2-1-1 Orange County (211OC).
In recognition of this anniversary, we wanted to share an update on the progress achieved in the first 12 months of operation and
the current areas of focus to further expand and improve this vital service.
We're proud to share that, as intended, the transition caused no service disruptions for clients. Another important goal was to
retain as many 211OC staff members as possible and we are delighted that not only have we retained nearly all of our staff, but
we’ve expanded to ensure we are able to serve our community most effectively.
70% Reduction
in caller wait time from an average
of 11 minutes to less than 3 minutes.
Finally, we’ve made tremendous progress developing the first-ever comprehensive Community Information Exchange (CIE) in Orange
County. This critical CIE will house data about the individuals seeking assistance and will be shared among services, government
agencies, and program funders in order to improve communication for the stakeholders and enhance service delivery for clients. As
we continue this work, we look forward to sharing even more about this groundbreaking development, which will be a game-changer
for our community and significantly improve our ability to serve Orange County residents.
With gratitude,
Elizabeth Andrade

A rise in food insecurity

Food insecurity is a critical issue in Orange County, especially for our low-income families. 211OC continues to receive a
significant number of inquiries about food assistance. As part of our comprehensive care approach, 211OC offers CalFresh
application assistance to ensure everyone in our community who needs and qualifies for this supplemental program has access to its
benefits.
If any of your clients need help applying for CalFresh, please have them contact 211OC. Assistance is offered in English and
Spanish.

As part of 211OC’s Community Care Network, Tierney Center for Veteran Services has been utilizing our GetHelpOC™ platform.
“2-1-1 Orange County’s Community Information Exchange (CIE) model, championed by United Way, has revolutionized the way we
coordinate care and resources for the Veterans we serve, while also instilling a sense of connection and support within our
community. Navigating the complex landscape of healthcare, housing, behavioral health, and social services can be an arduous
journey for individuals and families. The traditional lack of coordination between these systems often leaves those in need
feeling overwhelmed and unsupported. However, this CIE bridges these gaps with its network of community partners, ensuring that
all Veterans in Orange County are served equitably, efficiently, and effectively.”
—Michael Carter, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Operations Manager, Tierney Center for Veteran Services
