NURSING.com,
Sunday was Mother's Day and it has had me thinking a lotβ¦.
I have been thinking about the πmothersπ that I know in my life.Β Β
Motherhood is a special role and I am very grateful for my own mother, AND the mother of my kiddos.Β Β

It also makes me think of a life-changing moment I had working as a nurse in the neuro ICU.Β Β
A young mother who had cancer with metastasis to the brain.Β She had kids that were in their early teens.Β
Everyone on the floor knew her because she came in regularly.Β
One night, in-particular, I remember her coming in very sick, and she seemed particularly sad.Β Shortly after her family left for
the evening she actually passed away.Β
We called her family and they returned to the hospital to say goodbye.Β I remember sitting with her teenage sons and husband
trying to comfort them in their moment of loss.Β
Watching a young mom pass away, and then caring for the family had a profound impact on me.Β It really gave me a special insight,
reminding me how precious and fleeting these moments are that we get with our family.Β Β
So if you have family or anyone precious in your life parents, kids, friends, anyone; just reach out to them and tell them how
much you care about them.Β
Happy belated Mother's Day AND Happy Nursing!
