how i failed as a nurse . . .

NURSING.com,
Abby here . . . hijacking Jon's email to share a bit more of my story.
My greatest fear as a brand new nurse was that one of my patients would die due to a mistake that I made.
Yet, during my very first year working as a nurse in the ICU, that's EXACTLY what nearly happened and to be honest - it changed
EVERYTHING for me as a nurse . . .
"l almost killedmy patient..’
I won't tell you the entire story again - but what I will say is this . . .
I had treated safety as a one-time, checklisted item, and nearly failed as a nurse.
What I want you to take away from my experience is that ABCs are priorities, not checklists.
Mentally checking off one of your ABCs does not mean it's done.
ABCs are never done.
Anytime the airway is obstructed, it always becomes your number one again. Number two, don't be complacent about the S for safety.
Be vigilant. Do not forget safety with your patients. Number three, ask for help. As soon as possible.
About two years into my ICU experience I began working with NURSING.com and here's why . . .
I want to help YOU - the nursing student who feels all alone, maybe doubting themselves, maybe questioning if this is the right
path for them - to find the confidence to not only survive nursing school but to excel both in school and as a nurse. If that
means sharing some of my failures . . . so be it.
So I worked with Jon to help put together a way for you to learn all that you need to know in nursing school and pass the NCLEX
which you can find here.
I know this email is coming a bit late, but today is the last opportunity you will have to take advantage of the special package.
Jon has also agreed to include 1 SIMCLEX (NCLEX simulator) every single month.
We love you guys. I know that right now it might seem impossible but . . .
You CAN Do This!
Happy Nursing!
-Abby, RN
p.s. just so you know, the package does provide you complete access to NURSING.com as well as 1 SIMCLEX per month for 50% off.
