Discover the World of Whale Sharks
Presented by Eric Ramirez
The largest fish in the sea, whale sharks reach lengths of up to 62 feet and can weigh up to 30 tons -- longer than a school bus
and as heavy as some yachts. Despite their mass and 3,000 teeth, whale sharks are harmless to humans. They eat plankton and small
fish by filtering water through their gills, a process known as filter feeding. Marine biologist Eric Ramirez shines light on
whale shark behavior, migration patterns and their vital role in marine ecosystem health. Learn about ongoing whale shark
conservation efforts and where to find these "gentle giants."

Lights, Camera, Travel: Using Media to Shape the Conservation Narrative
Presented by Gerry Ellis
The democratization of media empowers individual travelers with tools like smartphone photography, video and audio to bolster
conservation efforts and help save species. Unlike in the past, when media production was the purview of select journalists,
today’s travelers can create and share compelling stories across multiple platforms. Gerry Ellis, Executive Director of GLOBIO, a
nonprofit dedicated to using storytelling and media to save great apes, primates and tropical forest ecosystems, shows how to
transform your personal adventures into impactful environmental change.

The Great Gray Whales of Baja
Presented by Sofia Merino
Each winter, gray whales migrate 6,000 miles from Alaska to Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, the longest mammal migration on Earth. These
once-endangered gentle giants now thrive in sheltered lagoons like San Ignacio, the site of Nat Hab's Baja whale adventure, where
they breed and give birth. Curious gray whales often approach our boats, offering close encounters and excellent photo
opportunities. Expedition Leader Sofia Merino, who has dedicated her professional life to studying these whales, shares details of
Nat Hab’s winter whale adventures in Baja -- which promise to spoil you for whale watching anywhere else!
