National Academy of Medicine President Victor Dzau took part in the Nov. 13 signing of a presidential memorandum establishing the new White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research.

NAE Member Receives Queen Elizabeth Prize

The 2023 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering has been awarded to NAE international member Martin Green and his team for the invention and development of passivated emitter and rear cell solar photovoltaic technology, which has underpinned the exponential growth of high-performance, low-cost solar electricity. King Charles III presented the prize during a ceremony held on Oct. 12.

NAM Member Tapped to Lead National Cancer Institute

President Biden named National Academy of Medicine member W. Kimryn Rathmell to be the next director of the National Cancer Institute. An expert in kidney cancer, Rathmell is the chair of medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
