The finding is roughly in line with what our results among registered voters have shown over the past month, while at the same point in the 2020 race, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden led Trump by 8 points among likely voters. Read more here. On the money front, Harris’ campaign reported having raised $361 million in August — nearly three-times the $130 million that Trump's campaign said it raised last month. Harris’ haul marked an improvement on her July fundraising, and leaves her with more than $400 million in the bank compared with Trump’s nearly $300 million. (Axios) On the legal front, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan has given special counsel Jack Smith a Sept. 26 deadline to detail the slate of evidence related to Trump’s effort to subvert the 2020 election. While it’s virtually certain the case won’t move forward before Election Day, the timetable does set up the prospect of damaging revelations regarding Trump’s 2020 behavior before then. (Politico) The House is poised to take up a number of culture war measures over the coming weeks ahead of the election, according to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.).  Along with the more pressing business of avoiding a government shutdown at the end of this month, lawmakers are poised to take up legislation targeting ESG and DEI policies in government agencies and financial institutions, the boycott, divest and sanction movement against Israel, and politics and institutions of higher education.
