Summer means growing season for your plants in water! Read below for tips on how to maximize your plant's growth this year AND for a 20% OFF Discount Code (SUMMER23)!

Summer Solstice is tomorrow, marking the longest day of the year and an official start to summer. As seasons change, here are a few ideas for how to better optimize your care routine for the season.

Two things to note before we get started here! First, our Summer Solstice Sale is live for a sitewide 20% OFF through EOD tomorrow (Wednesday). Use SUMMER23 as your discount code in your cart or checkout. Second - if you love the low maintenance flexibility of growing in water, don't feel the tips below are necessary adjustments. So long as your plans are already happy, change isn't necessarily needed.

Let's get to the Summer Care Routine:

For your indoor houseplants, summer means longer days of sunlight that equate to longer windows for photosynthesis and plant growth. Unlike outdoor plants, temperature is generally impacted less in most homes because humans tend to keep their homes at temperatures comfortable for humans, so it remains fairly stable. Here's how you can go about maximizing your plant's growth this year:
  • Re-arrange plants to maximize new light patterns: the sun moves along in the sky at different angles throughout the year and making the most of this growing season means utilizing light in the best way possible. Put your light-friendly plants like monstera, pothos, and philodendrons in areas that maximize lighting
  • Refreshing water more frequently: when growing in water, plants grow roots adapted to utilizing the oxygen in water to grow. Maximizing this available oxygen is best done by topping off the water with fresh water or replacing it entirely. The more often you do this, the more your plants will be able to grow this year!
  • Stay ahead of any algae growth: the simple rule here is, when you see a little algae growth, replace the water! Algae doesn't take over overnight, so be sure to stay one step ahead of this over the summer months
  • Bring out the bigger vases! have a plant who's roots are bursting at the seems? Consider a larger vase to keep things growing.
  • Use Nutrient Drops to keep things growing! light and water is just one of many necessary elements needed for healthy plant growth. Round of your plant's needs with some hydroponic nutrients like this
Other than that, it's business as usual here. In all honesty, my personal plant care routine hasn't changed any more than simply adding in a few extra water refreshes when I remember to. It's the same old flexible growing that I have come to love - but with extra plant growth to go along with it.

Remember, SUMMER23 for 20% off for another 48 hours :)

Best,
Conrad
