Welcome to our new monthly column, Coaching Corner, where our fertility coaches share their top tips for our TTC community. This
month's topic is all about short luteal phases. A short luteal phase means your uterine lining isn’t growing and thickening enough
to support an embryo. As a result, women with a short luteal phase may struggle to get pregnant.
Hear from our coaches who've shared their expert advice to help you with a short luteal phase: BSN, RN CEN, MMCP Marquette Method
of NFP Instructor
Jessica Joseph's Tip
"Foods high in Zinc and B6 help—even taking the supplements themselves. Foods high in Zinc include pumpkin seeds, mushrooms,
legumes, and oysters. Foods high in B6 include beef (aim for grass-fed), eggs, tuna, and chickpeas. If you are taking the
supplement, 15 mg of Zinc daily is a good start, and B6 should be 6 mg. A food-first approach is best, but comprehensive Prenatal
Vitamins should carry these micronutrients."
PT, DPT “Consider seed cycling and/or incorporating activities that heighten the parasympathetic nervous system such as
restorative yoga, journaling, tai chi, meditation, or acupuncture. If one has recently discontinued hormonal birth control within
3-6 months, a shortened luteal phase may be common. Honing in on whole food nutrition with emphasis on optimizing gut health is
essential to overall hormonal balance.”
