😮 Believe it or not, Microsoft's origin story doesn't actually begin with the widely-known MS-DOS operating system. Instead, an earlier creation paved the way for its future success.

This lesser-known operating system was dubbed XENIX, and it was essentially a reimagined version of the UNIX system, which was the brainchild of Bell Labs for AT&T in the dawn of the 1970s. Microsoft then secured a UNIX license from AT&T, developed XENIX, and granted licensing rights to key hardware manufacturers like Intel!
