Playing with adults and peers is a key part of your child's development. Play is often, and should be, in the moment and always related to the interest of the child, with the child taking the lead.
However, introducing games and puzzles allows for the introduction of rules and instructions that also supports the development of key early learning skills.
Playing games with your child allows for the development of key skills such as:
- hand-eye co-ordination skills
- memory
- speech and language
- social skills and getting along with others
- turn taking
- learning 'to lose' and be resilient
- regulate their own emotions
