If you're curious about the National Day, today is National Root Beer Float Day. I'd say August is a fitting time for this specific cold treat. I love a good root beer float, and while the ice cream does matter, the choice of root beer is the most important part for me. Maybe I'm a snob, but I prefer a high quality root beer from a bottle and two of my favorites are Stewart's and Dad's. These make great well rounded root beer floats; not too sweet and not too spiced. The only exception to this rule is that the traditional A&W from a can is the best option if you can't find anything in a bottle. It is also really well-rounded. I know someone is gonna ask about IBC because it's easy to find and in a bottle, it's a solid option but it leans much sweeter than I prefer especially when the ice cream is added. As for the ice cream, the best I've tasted is just a cheap "homestyle" vanilla. I usually buy the Kroger brand or something similar. It has the perfect amount of vanilla and is exceptionally creamy to give the float nice flavor and texture.

For those that really care about what I tend to listen to when I write for long periods of time, it tends to vary. Sure this is probably a random place to put this thought, but I've gotten asked about it recently and thought I'd address it. I sometimes just choose a random electronic playlist on Spotify. But often enough I have to skip too many songs because there are too many songs with lyrics. I really need mostly instrumental music when I'm really in the zone. I have been listening to a lot of live full DJ sets on YouTube lately. For example, this email was written while listening to REZZ's Live @ Brooklyn Mirage 2023 an absolutely amazing electronic music set that has me bopping my head and tapping my toe as I write this. Most of this list is pretty minimalist in terms of vocals with the intro having some lyrics but the first 30 minutes being mostly instrumental and some real electronic bangers.

Lastly, some upcoming product news. If you're interested in the next Speedster V2 release, we have an upcoming serial numbered Limited Edition that will be offered initially to Pen Club Members likely at the end of next week. This is a much smaller release than the last three, with just 20 being released in a special Cerakote and anodized wheel colorway. After that, we'll have a pause for a month or two before we have the next larger limited release anodized Speedster options. We'll also be working on some future concepts for other desktop accessories like the Speedster over the next few months. Keep your eyes peeled for pics coming in the next few days.
