Konnichiwa Just One Cookbook --
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I'll be catching up on my work, doing some recipe testing, and working on a big project
that I'm hoping to reveal this summer!
Behind the blog, here's a little bit from my week.
1) We attended a family member's wedding this past weekend. 2) We had a two-day video shoot and filmed five recipes! 3) We had dim
sum with our talented musician friends Francesco Turrisi and Rhiannon Giddens before their show at the Fillmore in SF. 4) Miso
turned 4 years old (but he still acts like a puppy)! 5) Our son is doing the final tuxedo fitting for prom tonight.
Yeah, so our son is going to attend his school's prom this evening. It amazes me when I look at my little boy, who has grown into
a confident, respectful, and hard-working person, ready to take flight independently. Many JOC readers have seen him grow from an
elementary school boy to a high school senior—that's 13 years of his life!
By the way, Mother's Day is coming soon, so I've included a gift guide this week. I hope you find the list useful! 😉

SIMMERED GANMODOKI
Japanese fried tofu patties get a serious boost of umami from the dashi-based broth in this recipe. With store-bought or frozen
homemade ganmodoki, you can put this light, satisfying dish on the table in just 35 minutes.
*Vegan-Adaptable

NAPA CABBAGE STIR-FRY
Full of dietary fiber and vitamins, this is my favorite way to bring umami to napa cabbage.

YOUR GUIDE TO DASHI PACKET
A dashi packet is a great alternative to making dashi (Japanese soup stock). It’s really convenient and produces a much more
flavorful soup stock than one made with dashi powder. I'll show you how I use dashi packet in my cooking.
