Hi there,
Valentine’s Day can be one of the hardest days of the year.
Whether you’re single or in a relationship, there’s a ton of expectation around what love should look like.
And whatever you think about the commercialization of romance, this external pressure for the perfect relationship can trigger
depression and feelings of inadequacy.
You might find yourself ruminating on past love and relationships and where you “failed.”
Perhaps you’ve even considered calling in sick to work or skipping school to avoid your feelings.
It’s easy to start comparing your insides to everyone else’s outsides.
To believe you’re missing out.
As you may know, I’ve been single for most of my adult life.
As a result, I’ve learned to cultivate a more compassionate and loving relationship with myself.
Today, my life is full of people who truly value, respect and uplift me.
I’m surrounded by love. Even if it's not the rose petals and balloons kind 🎈
So, no matter how you feel about Valentine’s Day, remember it is just a day.
And take the opportunity to celebrate and love yourself.
Take yourself out on a date. Buy yourself a gift. Or take some small step forward that will make your future self proud.
For instance, you could deepen your understanding of your role in relationships with The Vessel’s Self Love Quiz. Devised by the
shaman Rudá Iandê, the answers will give you detailed insights into your current relationships with yourself and others.
If you haven't watched it already check out Rudá’s free Love and Intimacy masterclass. I believe this is the best resource for
love on the internet.
Recently gone through a breakup? Annabel Acton has a free 8-step guide that will allow you to transform painful feelings into
personal growth.
And, if you have relationship questions that need answers, remember you can write in to Ask Evie for compassionate advice.
Thank you for being part of the Ideapod community.
I love that you’re here.

Our Story
Ideapod was founded in 2013 as a platform for the free and open exchange of ideas. In 2014 we launched the first beta version of
our social network promoting this aim, opening it to the public in 2015. By the end of 2016 our community had grown, with over
15,000 ideas shared and a core community of regular users.
Yet by the beginning of 2017, it was clear that the world was changing. Social media already a good job of making ideas freely
accessible. But this became part of the problem with the increasing recognition of the problem of fake news and misinformation.
Ideapod therefore “pivoted” and became a new media platform with an editorial team, publishing articles exploring the ways in
which our minds are shaped by culture, politics, spirituality and other external sources of programming.
Today, Ideapod is a thriving independent media outlet publishing stories on alternative lifestyles, spirituality, politics,
culture, and technology. We champion independent thinking and promote the art of thinking for yourself. Our aim is to report on
the prevailing zeitgeist with a vanguard of next generation writers, documentarians, opinion formers and culture creators.
