Jefferson County: Plan for one-way alternating traffic on US 101 near Ruby Beach March 18-22

JEFFERSON COUNTY – Travelers who use US 101 in Jefferson County between Ruby Beach and Forks will want to plan extra travel time the week of March 18.

Contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will perform early work for a fish habitat job starting this summer.

7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22

  • Travelers can expect one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers.
  • The work zone is located on US 101 about 6 miles northeast of Ruby Beach.

This is one of six locations along US 101 west of the Olympic National Park where crews will work to remove barriers to fish this summer. Construction is already underway with one-way alternating traffic at the Jefferson-Clallam county line for a project at May Creek .

Whenever near work zones please:

  • Slow down – drive the posted speeds for worker and traveler safety.
  • Be kind –workers are out there helping to keep people safe and improve the roadways.
  • Pay attention – both to workers directing travelers and surrounding traffic.
  • Stay calm – expect delays, leave early or take alternate routes if possible; no meeting or appointment is worth risking someone’s life.

While travelers will see a lot of roadwork around the Olympic Peninsula this summer, WSDOT has tools to help everyone get where they are going. Travelers can sign up for email updates for projects in Jefferson and Clallam counties. Real-time travel information is available on the WSDOT app and statewide travel map.
