The profusions of delicate pink and white blooms of ornamental cherries are classic symbols of spring. For about two weeks in early spring, they charm us with their exceptional beauty, and are some of the first reliable food sources for pollinators. The beauty of ornamental cherries is not at all confined to remarkable floral displays, their barks and unique forms are extraordinary in all seasons. Fruits are not reliable or palatable with flowering cherries, and the few which may be produced are typically devoured by birds, allowing the area around the trees to remain somewhat tidy.
