DAL: Dallas committed to Dak Prescott 4. CHI: D'Andre Swift listed as lead back 5. ARI: James Conner open to staying 6. TEN: Will Levis quiet after debut 7. IND: Trey Sermon 'quite clear' RB2 8. DEN: Troy Franklin signs rookie deal 9. CIN: No progress on Tee Higgins contract 10. NE: NE reportedly wanted to draft Xavier Worthy 1. CIN: CINCY, JA'MARR CHASE IN HOLDING PATTERN Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Β© Corey Perrine-USA TODAY Sports JaMarr Chase Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase is eligible for a contract extension but the team appears to be 'in a holding pattern' because both sides are waiting for Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson to sign his inevitable extension first, according to ESPN.com's Ben Baby. Our view: Back in April, the Bengals picked up the fifth-year option for Chase. He's signed through the 2025 season, but the team should be working to get him a new contract this summer - perhaps before the start of the regular season. When Jefferson signs his deal, Chase's deal could be finalized soon after that. Back to Top 2. ATL: KYLE PITTS PRIMED FOR BIG YEAR? Source: ESPN - Marc Raimondi Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts has picked up the new offense well, according to offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. 'And so, I'm just excited to see him continue to get more comfortable in the system,' Robinson said. 'And the sky's the limit for what kind of season he can have.' Our view: Robinson has a great mind for offensive football, and we see him as a future head coach (perhaps sooner rather than later). He'll know what to do with the Falcons' offense, and Pitts should be a big part of what they do. We like projecting Pitts for 65 receptions or so. His touchdown total (only six in three seasons) will determine how high he ranks in the TE1 tier. Projecting Pitts for around five touchdowns sounds about right. Back to Top 3. DAL: DALLAS COMMITTED TO DAK PRESCOTT Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Negotiations between the Dallas Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott on a contract extension have been described as 'passive' so far, although the team wants to get a deal done before he hits free agency in 2025, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler. Our view: If the team is truly committed, then they will get a deal done. There's always enough money, teams just have to figure out the cap situation. Prescott is in the final year of his current deal and will earn $55.455 million in 2024....unless a new deal is made. The team could lower Prescott's cap number this year while also giving him more security. Prescott will continue to be among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league - whether it's in Dallas or somewhere else in 2025. Back to Top Download The 2024 Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide 4. CHI: D'ANDRE SWIFT LISTED AS LEAD BACK Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon Chicago Bears RB D'Andre Swift is listed as the No. 1 running back on the team's depth chart and is likely to see a great deal of playing time in third-down and red zone situations, as well as on first and second downs, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. Our view: We love the top three backs on the Bears' roster. Swift is talented, and he can be reliable on all three downs. However, Roschon Johnson can make plays as a runner and receiver too. Oh yeah, Khalil Herbert has the ability to start for other teams but is second or third in the pecking order with the Bears. We see Swift as an RB2/flex play for Fantasy GMs this year in what will be a split backfield...even though Swift will be the lead back. Back to Top 5. ARI: JAMES CONNER OPEN TO STAYING Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner is entering the final year of his current contract and said that he would be interested in remaining with the team beyond the 2024 season. Our view: Conner had career-best numbers in rushing yardage last year, going over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. This year, Conner should be tasked with carrying a heavy load again. Fantasy GMs should see him as an RB2/flex option in 2024, but his 2025 status is up in the air (for both fantasy and the Cardinals). Back to Top 6. TEN: WILL LEVIS QUIET AFTER DEBUT Source: ESPN.com Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis threw four touchdowns over his final eight starts after throwing four touchdowns in his NFL debut. Our view: Let's see what Levis can do this year. He flashed a bit as a rookie, but he also had rookie struggles. The Titans did not add a quarterback this year in the draft, so Levis has the opportunity to prove himself as the starter. Mason Rudolph is there to push him for the top spot on the depth chart. Back to Top Claim Your 100% Deposit Match At Underdog Fantasy 7. IND: TREY SERMON 'QUITE CLEAR' RB2 Source: Horseshoe Huddle - Jake Arthur Indianapolis Colts RB Trey Sermon is the 'quite clear' backup running back to Jonathan Taylor, according to sources Saturday, June 1. Our view: Sermon has natural talent as a runner, but he has yet to play up to his potential in the pros. He doesn't bring much as a receiver out of the backfield, but Sermon can be a reliable two-down back if needed. Back to Top 8. DEN: TROY FRANKLIN SIGNS ROOKIE DEAL Source: DenverBroncos.com Denver Broncos WR Troy Franklin signed his four-year rookie contract, the team announced Saturday, June 1. Our view: Franklin was college teammates with Broncos' first-round pick QB Bo Nix. They were great together at Oregon, and the two are showing strong chemistry during rookie minicamp and OTAs. Franklin is down the depth chart this year, behind at least Marvin Mims and Courtland Sutton. However, we do love him (and Devaughn Vele) in dynasty formats. Back to Top Footballguys Shop - Look Like A Champion 9. CIN: NO PROGRESS ON TEE HIGGINS CONTRACT Source: ESPN - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins has not had negotiations about a potential contract extension for over a year, according to sources Sunday, June 2. Higgins still has not signed his franchise tender. Our view: Higgins has not signed his tender, but the two sides have until mid-July to get something done. If he doesn't sign his tender by the deadline, then we could see a lengthy holdout. We could also see Higgins dealt to another team. In addition to Higgins, Ja'Marr Chase is looking for a new contract. The Bengals may not be able to keep both with inflated price tags. Back to Top 10. NE: NE REPORTEDLY WANTED TO DRAFT XAVIER WORTHY Source: The Boston Globe - Conor Roche The New England Patriots had interest in selecting WR Xavier Worthy in the 2024 NFL Draft, before the Kansas City Chiefs made a trade with the Buffalo Bills in order to pick him, according to an interview that former Patriots executive Michael Lombardi did on ESPN Radio's 'The Pat McAfee Show.' Our view: The Patriots could use the help. They don't have much at the receiver position, and a guy like Worthy could have been their top target at the position. Worthy is now with the Chiefs where he can take the top off the defense for the league's best quarterback. Back to Top That'll do it for today, Folks.
