Supplier Story - Whangaripo Valley Free Range Eggs

At Foodbox we only use Whangaripo Valley Free Range eggs.

They're a family-owned kiwi business that takes care of their chickens and their surrounding environment, carefully selecting each egg for us. They've been around since the 1800s, so they know what quality is! And it starts with the fact that this free-range flock has plenty of space to roost in comfort and lay their eggs with ease.Â At least 1500 native trees are planted on the property each year, providing a wooded environment to help encourage the hens' natural behaviours like foraging, scratching, and dustbathing. Free to roam away from their sheds, instinctively seeking shelter from wind and rain in the trees providing the ideal cover they need as well as a natural perch to rest on.

Whangaripo Valley hens always have access to water both inside and outside of their sheds. Rainwater is collected which is then filtered so no chemicals are added to it. The farm doesnât use pesticides or chemicals on their grassy paddocks either so you can rest assured your eggs are simply eggs.
