Few Will Hunt || Made In The USA Few Will Hunt, here’s the one thing you don’t know about me: I’ve attended more funerals than anyone you know. For years, I attended at least 1 funeral per week as a sacristan and funeral home employee. Attending this amount of funerals gave me a unique perspective on death… but it also gave me a unique perspective on life. So, for today’s 3 The Hard Way, let’s talk about LIFE! 1. The Quick from me: Here are three lessons that I learned about life by working in a funeral home: Lesson #1: Life is short and sacred If you’re reading this, be grateful. You woke up today. Waking means you’ve already won— you’ve won the opportunity to get gritty and go do. Regardless of your circumstances, do not let this day pass by. Grow through it. Lesson #2: Some people in your life don’t deserve your thoughts Some people you think about daily… they won’t be at your funeral. While you’re spending your life thinking about their opinions, critiques, and judgments of you, they’ve already moved on to something else. They’re not thinking about you, so don’t give them your most precious asset— your thoughts. Remember: Your thoughts determine your choices, your choices define your actions, and your actions design your life. Think accordingly. Lesson #3: People receive their flowers way too late in life “Flowers” are compliments, admiration, and gratitude. People receive most of them when they’re in their casket. This always puzzled me. Families would wait until their loved ones were gone to tell stories of admiration and shower them with gratitude. “I wish I could have said this to you when you were here with us” was a phrase I overheard far too often. Don’t be late. Don’t wait. Today, show love to those who matter most to you. The greatest gift you can give them isn’t a fancy present— it’s your focused presence. 2. The Quote from Robert Frost: “In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.” 3. The Question for you today: Whose opinion has hijacked your thoughts today? Will this person be at your funeral? To our well-lived lives! Joey P.S. Are you ready to die growing?
