How To Tell That Your Camshaft Gears Need Replacement (Volvo, BMW, VAG)

The Volvo four and five-cylinder engines of the last two decades have been some of the best for reliable transport. Although unrelated to cam gears, a failed PCV or diaphragm will cause an intense crankcase vacuum, pulling on every oil seal. That vacuum can force the seals to wear through the gears, opening up clear paths for oil to escape.
