While there are hundreds of reasons why thousands of runners are taking to the streets Saturday and Sunday for Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, the “Shanny Sisters” are choosing to honour their mother’s memory Sunday by going the full 42.2-kilometre marathon distance to raise awareness for organ donations. After Alison Shanahan passed away in August 2020 due to a brain tumour, her lungs, liver and kidney were passed on to others in desperate need of life-saving donations. Now the daughters are seeking at least 84 new donors — one for each kilometre they will run on Sunday — as a tribute. Updated May 22, 2023 Source: Ottawa Public Health How to get tested and treated for COVID-19 in Ottawa Pharmacists can dispense Paxlovid, an antiviral drug used to reduce severe outcomes from COVID-19 to eligible people at no cost, both in person and virtually. People can use Ontario’s COVID-19 online antiviral treatment screener to see if they’re at higher risk of severe illness and might benefit from the medication. Ottawa residents can find out who’s currently eligible for testing and how to book tests and seek treatment at local care clinics or assessment centres on the Ottawa Public Health website. That document outlines rules for the use of AI by the government. After confirming publicly that he was considering the opportunity to serve at the top of the city hall org chart, the president and CEO of the Eastern Ontario children’s hospital announced Wednesday that he would be staying with CHEO.  In a hospital-wide update, Munter wrote that “while very flattering to be approached, I want to let you know that my (heart) and my focus is and will continue to be with CHEO. Munter was not giving interviews on the subject Thursday, but CHEO spokesperson Patrick Moore confirmed it was Munter’s decision not to pursue the position with the city.
