Dear Dwell Readers,

Back in January of 2020, the Dwell team was debating how to launch a new event program that would bring our readers together to literally step inside homes that we think represent the future of design. Obviously, we took a pause, but we were committed to the concept, which is why I’m excited to finally introduce Dwell Open House, a home tour series where you can see forward-looking architecture and design in person.

There’s a reason we’re starting in Los Angeles. We’ll declare it here, the city has the most dynamic design scene in the country. We chose three homes that each highlight one aspect of what makes the city so exciting right now: An expressive residence that shows an architect refining her ideas, an exuberant contemporary intervention in a historic property, and a casually brilliant net-zero house perched on a steep site.
