Is it usually on the light side or the heavier side where athletes see deficiencies?
It will almost always be on the lighter side.
The basic idea behind the heavier implements is to promote more efficient movements.
Generally speaking, the ball itself or the implement itself is potentially helping them move in a more efficient way. That goes away with lighter balls because they aren’t relying on the implement to help them in any way.
Do the new balls change my programming?
There is no change in throwing volume or the drill package if you are recommended for an overload or underload focus.
You simply change the balls to target any specific deficiencies you find from the PlyoVelo Report.
Can I use these to get ready for the season?
You can purposely transition athletes from an overload focus in the early offseason to a more general or non-specific focus in the late offseason, to an underload focus in the preseason.
Build up an athlete’s throwing fitness and better prepare their body for the preseason.
Can I use them with rehabbing athletes?
Yes, it is likely a good idea to begin by exposing the athlete to lower torque values while the body and arm adapt to the new stimulus.
Progress athletes’ throwing over time by gradually exposing them to higher torque values as training progresses. We can help mitigate exposing the athlete to higher than necessary torque values by throwing overload PlyoCare balls.
