Having trouble reading this email? . press release banner city of new orleans City of New Orleans Press Release - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Sept. 20, 2024 For Media Inquiries Only [email protected] (504) 658-4945 UPDATE: TRAFFIC ADVISORY: LANE CLOSURES ON FILMORE AVENUE BETWEEN ARTS STREET AND VENUS STREET DPW NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans today announced the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractors Barriere Construction, LLC. will be closing both lanes on Filmore Avenue between Arts Street and Venus Street on Sept. 23 starting at 6 a.m. and ending on Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. This closer is to accommodate the utility work and roadwork as part of the Gentilly Terrace Group E project. The work was previously scheduled to occur on Friday, Sept. 20. Local traffic will be accommodated to enter and exit the area.    Signage and traffic control measures, such as barrels and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.  Motorists are advised to use caution during this time as road closures and detours will be in effect. Residents and businesses in this area have been notified of the closure through a neighborhood canvas.  The $10.2 million Gentilly Terrace Group E project was designed by Integrated Logical Support, Inc. (ILSI), and is being constructed by Barriere Construction Company, LLC. Click here to view the community meeting presentation and map of the project. The scope of work varies by block but includes repairing sewage, water, and drainage line; rebuilding the street entirely; and repairing sidewalks and curbs.  In general, the contractor is working from 7 a.m. until sunset, Monday through Friday. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by summer of 2024, weather permitting.    Since May 2018, DPW has completed 210 projects with an estimated value of $1.047 million.
