FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  August 7, 2024 NOPD ARRESTS SUSPECT IN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION On Duty NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD has arrested Yuan N. Buggage (black male, DOB: 05-05-2000) of Chalmette, La., in the ongoing investigation of a homicide that occurred on July 29, 2024, in the 2100 block of Soniat Street. At about 5:28 p.m. on July 29, NOPD Second District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2100 block of Sonia Street. Upon their arrival, officers located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A 15-year-old juvenile male and a 25-year old adult male were each transported to a local hospital for treatment. The 15-year-old was later pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. On July 31, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 15-year-old Tyvien Jirouard and determined cause of death to be from gunshot-related injuries. Through further investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Buggage as a suspect in this incident. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Buggage on one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. Buggage was found to be incarcerated in the Orleans Parish Justice Center on previous charges and was subsequently re-booked on the additional charges. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
