Another frigid dawn! Hope you are surviving.
"The City That Works." Recognize the slogan? Do you think it still applies to Chicago?
Pollster Will Johnson explains today how Chicagoans are feeling about their city and what they would like to say to their mayor.
It's a must-read this morning.
Also today: The Tribune's editorial board looks at America's broken immigration system, surely the most vexing topic in politics
and the root cause of so much dysfunction. The board calls on House Republicans to put aside a perceived electoral trump card and
come to the table with Senate Democrats on this matter. Why negotiate? It's what polls show Republican voters actually want. And
it also happens to be good for the country.
Donald Trump, you may have heard, had a very good Monday in chilly Iowa. Our Clarence Page, who has seen many political figures
come and go, notes this one's striking resilience. Given the givens, you might say.
We've got letters for you to read, of course. And we also have a cogent argument made by William French as to why we must continue
to support Ukraine, even when that beleaguered country has disappeared from the headlines. His case is most compelling.
The Opinion Team wishes you a wonderful day.
