Volunteer hammering metal on an anvil HAMMERING ON THE FARM Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m.-noon Agricultural Heritage Center All ages welcome Drop by anytime from 10 a.m. to noon to watch the blacksmith work his craft. Listen to the clang-clang-clang of the hammer and the hum of the coal forge blower. Learn about blacksmithing tools such as hammers, tongs, anvils, swage blocks, and more. Registration not required. Mark your calendars for future Hammering on the Farm events on Saturday, Jan. 4, and Saturday, Feb. 1. Explore upcoming events, guided tours, winter farm hours, and location details on the Agricultural Heritage Center webpage. Registration is not required for this activity, but you can sign up to be notified in case the event is unexpectedly canceled. Register for Dec. 7 - Sun shining through snowy tree branches and ground THE WONDERS OF WINTER  Tuesday, Dec. 17, 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Lafayette Public Library All ages welcome  Winter is a great time to explore the natural wonders of Boulder County! Join volunteer naturalists to learn about the many wonders of winter and how plants and animals adapt to snow and cold — from the Great Plains to the Continental Divide.  Registration required. Register - Night Sky and Milky Way along the front range mountains WINTER SOLSTICE NIGHT WALK   Saturday, Dec. 21, 4:30-6:30 p.m.  Pella Crossing All ages welcome  On the longest night of the year, experience what the night has to offer. Join volunteer naturalists for a flat, easy, 1-mile walk around the ponds at Pella Crossing. Explore open space after hours and discover the secrets of the dark, including local nocturnal wildlife and the winter constellations in the night sky.  Registration required. Register - Registration is handled through Discover Boulder County, Parks & Open Space’s volunteer and event registration system. If you’re new to the system, you’ll need to create an account. But it’s easy and we only use your contact information to communicate about volunteer opportunities and events you register for. We will never sell or give your information to a third party.
