October is NDEAM Month BEST BUBBIES HOW ROBIN’S SUCCESS STORY INSPIRES US THIS NDEAM! Dear Friend, October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The Department of Labor’s NDEAM theme this year is Access to Good Jobs for All, with a goal of ensuring that workers with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have access to good jobs, every month of every year. While we take the month of October to celebrate the value and talent that workers with disabilities add to our workplaces and economy, we also hope this continues to be valued throughout each month of the year. i Klingman & Assomtcs LLC Robin, a Best Buddies New York participant, exemplifies the positive impact of our Jobs program and the crucial role corporate employer partners like Klingman & Associates play in fostering economic success for individuals with IDD and promoting inclusive workplaces. Robin currently works as an office manager at Klingman & Associates, LLC, a wealth management firm, in New York City. She has been with the company for over five and a half years, starting as an intern in January 2019 and transitioning to a full-time role after two months. Before joining Klingman & Associates, she worked at the local Pet Health Store.  In addition to using her administrative and customer service skills, Robin has also learned to use programs like Tamarac CRM, a web-based client relationship management system, book travel arrangements, manage multiple calendars, and continues to acquire new skills as she works. Robin works 40 hours a week and enjoys a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation, medical care, and a retirement plan, among other benefits. Her current salary is $65,000 per year.   Since securing her job, Robin has been able to experience more of the city and travel, feeling supported by her job and close-knit colleagues at Klingman & Associates, who feel like family to her.  Her future goals include taking courses to further her education, running another marathon or half-marathon, traveling more, learning different languages, and learning how to play golf. Robin looks forward to continuing her education, both in financial planning and other fields.  I challenge all industries to tap into the talented pool of qualified candidates and hire individuals within the IDD community, not only because it is the right thing to do but because it is also an excellent business investment.
