Medoc Bargain Beaumont

A total knock-out of a Bordeaux that seduces from the first taste, the rich and deeply textured 92 pt. 2019 Chateau Beaumont offers layers of fragrant and fresh dark spiced fruit showing impressive concentration with a lingering silky finish, an elegant and classy Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend described by Neal Martin of Vinous as “a bloody great Beaumont” incredibly value priced under $20 for stocking up by the case.

Located on the Left Bank of the Gironde between Margaux and Saint-Julien, the stately Chateau Beaumont is one of the Haut-Medoc’s largest estates spanning 150 hectares, rising to the top of the appellation under the same ownership as Chateau Beychevelle in Saint-Julien and “now showing its fine potential” according to the Wine Enthusiast’s Roger Voss. Situated in a massive single block on top of a deep gravel hill, the sustainably farmed 114-hectare vineyard is planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a small amount of Petit Verdot in a mix of sand and gravel, the nearby Gironde estuary moderating temperatures and protecting the vines from extreme highs or lows. Produced under the direction of famed consulting enologist Eric Boissenot, the richly textured 2019 Chateau Beaumont was aged in 30% new French oak for 12 months, yielding a fresh and mineral-driven Bordeaux blend with a precise and complex finish that’s ready to enjoy now and built to reveal its depth over the coming decade.

From an outstanding 2019 vintage described by Jeb Dunnuck as “a terrific year that will be prized by lovers of classic, impeccably made Bordeaux,” the juicy and expressive 92 pt. 2019 Chateau Beaumont offers the luscious, fresh fruit and deeply layered complexity that will have Bordeaux fans reaching for another glass, a go-to selection on exclusive restaurant wine lists at four to five times the price that promises savvy Bordeaux fans and collectors who act quickly to secure their stash many years of pleasurable drinking ahead.
