GOSSET ROSE CHAMPAGNE
“Elegantly vinous and flavorful, it’s a fine success.”
William Kelley, Wine Advocate
Crafted in a refreshing, dry style that’s certain to appeal to bubbly fans and wine lovers alike, the beautifully refined 93 pt.
Gosset Brut Grand Rose reveals fragrant rich fruit and fresh lively acidity with a luxurious pinpoint mousse, a deeply structured
expression of Champagne’s chalky terroir with the ability to age at a simply unheard-of price.
Founded by Pierre Gosset in 1584 in the village of Ay, Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in the region, first crafting
still wines long before the “methode champenoise” practice of creating bubbles was adopted and remaining in the Gosset family for
over four centuries before its purchase by Reynaud-Cointreau in 1993. Considered one of the smallest Grande Marque producers,
Gosset works with more than 200 growers located primarily in Premier and Grand Crus throughout the region, blending the Grand Rose
cuvee with equal portions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir including 8% still wine. Fermenting each of the growers' plots separately,
chef de cave Odilon de Varine, formerly of Deutz and Henriot, employed Gosset's unique practice of blocking malolactic
fermentation, instead allowing the wine to remain on the lees for four years to enhance complexity and adding a relatively low
dosage to allow for the transparent expression of the terroir’s minerality, yielding a rich core of fresh, ripe fruit with a
tantalizing bead of fine bubbles on a long, elegant finish.
Described as “a reference-point producer of racy, vibrant wines loaded with character” by Antonio Galloni of Vinous, the
powerfully built 93 pt. Gosset Brut Grand Rose is delicious on its own while boasting the structure to enjoy with food, and at
over half off the average price a superb bargain to savor over the next decade, if only you can manage to save a few.
