Dear Art Toolkit,

Today, we are sharing a special newsletter for some weekend nature journaling inspiration in the form of an on-location video! Whether you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, where the bright sprouts of spring are perking up, or the Southern Hemisphere, where the abundance of summer is relaxing into autumn, we invite you to take time this weekend to sit with nature.

Nature Journaling Demonstration

We’re excited to share our latest video and blog post, “Nature Journaling at the Beach,” where I settled into a favorite spot at Fort Worden State Park to observe nature through pen and watercolor sketches and note-taking!

Follow along as I demonstrate how to observe the natural world around you and capture a range of subjects on a single sketchbook page. For this demonstration, I packed some extra supplies to make my time at the beach more comfortable and fun!

The last of our Duotone Ocean A5 Art Toolkits are on our website, so now is your chance to get yours! Duotone Ocean Art Toolkits are inspired by the beautiful range of blues around us here in the Pacific Northwest. Located on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula, Port Townsend’s shorelines are perfect for making art and spending time in nature.

Prompt: Take 30 Minutes

We invite you to find a time to observe the natural world! Whether you explore nearby beaches, a grassy field, or a sandy terrain, we invite you to pack some supplies for a more extended sit-down and set a timer for at least 30 minutes while you observe and sketch the land and animals you spot! We would love to see what you create!

As always, we appreciate your support, enthusiasm, and inspiring ideas. Please keep in touch, and we’d love to hear your news! We always enjoy connecting on Instagram and Facebook, too.

Best wishes,

Maria & the Art Toolkit Team
