HUNTING DOWN CYBER THREATS March 06, 2024 Media inquiries A new website connects Alberta cybersecurity leaders and supports organizations as they respond to threats. The global cybersecurity landscape has changed significantly. The introduction of sophisticated tools, artificial intelligence and a worldwide shortage of qualified cybersecurity talent have left many organizations struggling to keep up with cyber threat actors. Many have called on governments to help support their response and their security requirements. In 2022, Alberta’s government launched CyberAlberta, bringing together cybersecurity professionals from organizations across the province with a goal to strengthen Alberta’s cybersecurity. This program invites membership from any public, private or non-profit organization operating in Alberta, and it focuses on sharing information and knowledge to help members stay ahead of evolving and emerging threats. “CyberAlberta fills a need in this province. Businesses have been very clear that they want their government to share more information to help their response. As the organization continues to grow, it will help address cybersecurity challenges. This website is a great way to support Albertans, while bringing the cybersecurity community closer together.” Nate Glubish, Minister of Technology and Innovation CyberAlberta has taken this work one step further by launching a website, making its information available to a wider audience and on demand. It also creates an opportunity to introduce additional services in the future, with early plans including a member discussion forum and a public job board with positions available in member organizations.
