4\, 4|l IT’'S ART FOR EVERYONE NEW GIFTS QUICK SHIP BLOG 20x200 104 Airplanes by Jenny Odell How will you be traveling this summer? Mind you, by traveling we mean anything from flying across the Atlantic to biking around your city. Summer adventures can become draining quickly, especially when getting there feels like a chore, rather than part of the adventure. That’s why it’s so important (and fun!!) to indulge in a little romanticization. Below are 20x200 staff’s favorite modes of travel—regardless of how unrealistic they are. A girl can dream! PLANES, TRAINS, AND AUTOMOBILES Image of Fly TWA: San Francisco Image of Fly TWA: New York Fly TWA: San Francisco and Fly TWA: New York, 20x200 Vintage Editions I have a true love/hate relationship with planes. I am and will forever be dazzled by the miracle of flight; that a tube of metal can propel itself across the entire continent in mere hours, laden with hundreds of humans and all their stuff is truly amazing. To wake up in NYC and then climb into bed that night in San Francisco is a modern marvel, and it also happens to be a key component of my own personal version of having it all. As I type this, I realize the good outweighs the bad by a lot, and yet! I pretty much despise almost everything about the flying itself: packing, getting to/from the airport, being stuck in that aforementioned metal tube for all those hours, with all that humanity. All miracles come at a cost, I suppose! I’ll take it.  — Jen Image of Tempo of the City: I. Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, Manhattan. Tempo of the City: I. Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, Manhattan. by Berenice Abbott I've picked Berenice Abbott's Tempo of the City: I. Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, as my favorite way to get from points A to B is walking, and my favorite place to walk is in NYC. Here, Abbott beautifully captures the fast stride. You know the one if you live here. You see how widely-spaced the first women's steps are; the swing of their skirts and coats? That's intentional New York Walking. — Joan Image of Lizard Range, British Columbia Lizard Range, British Columbia by Jessica Zollman My favorite mode of transportation? The good old-fashioned canoe. I’m from the Midwest, so I learned to paddle before I learned to drive. The canoe is near-and-dear to my heart, from the 15 summers I spent at the same summer camp, to fishing trips against stunning backdrops like the one in Lizard Range, British Columbia. I’ve never been to British Columbia, but one time my dad attached a speed boat motor on the back of our canoe, and I think that’s just as exciting! — Bea Image of Hacienda Horse and Rider, historic neon sign, Las Vegas, Nevada Hacienda Horse and Rider, historic neon sign, Las Vegas, Nevada by Carol M. Highsmith My pick is most definitely a romanticized one, since I don't know how to ride a horse. As someone who grew up on Lord of the Rings, I've always loved the idea of setting off across an open plain or through a pine forest on horseback with nothing but a blanket roll and some lembas. And this horse and rider have the perfect flair for such an adventure (although easily spotted, if pursued!). If I could choose this bronco for my summer adventures, I would.  — Rebecca NEW GIFTS QUICK SHIP BLOG SALE 20x200 Instagram Facebook Twitter Twitter 20x200   135 Plymouth Street Brooklyn, New York 11201 or
